Cooking with 5 Olive Oil

Halva with orange peel and cinnamon

Cholesterol free, dairy free, vegan. When still warm but not hot, you can mold the halva in any cake or ring for a nice presentation.

  • Semolina, 2 cups
  • Sugar, 3 cups
  • 5 Ultra Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 1/2 cup
  • Water, 4 1/2 cups
  • Orange peel, 1-2 peels
  • Cinnamon stick, 1 stick

(~ 1/2 cup of prepared dessert)

  1. In a medium pot, add sugar, water, orange peels and cinnamon stick.
  2. Put over medium heat, uncovered, and stir occasionally until sugar has dissolved.
  3. When it starts simmering, turn off heat, put lid on and let on warm stove top.
  4. Meanwhile, in a medium pot and on medium heat, add semolina and 5 Ultra Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil and stir continuously until it turns gold/light brown, about 7-10 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to low take peels and cinnamon out, and very carefully pour the warm sugar water over semolina while gentrly stirring. Attention! This step will create steam, so make sure to have some distance from the pot, close lid and let on the warm stove top until thick.
  6. Serve warmish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

Do not refregerate.
